Our Story
Tonbetter Farms was established in 2024 in Kenly, North Carolina. We bought our 7 acre farm in 2022 when it was just crop fields. We had a dream of having a self-sustaining farm that would provide our family of boys with a well rounded way of life. When we moved in, we already had our first Havanese puppy, Penny, that would start our kennel and a flock of chickens that are fed organic grain and give us farm fresh eggs. We've since added our pup, Rosie, and another flock of chickens to make two chicken coops!
Penny has had one litter of puppies so far that were born February 2024. She proved to be an excellent momma. We are hoping for a second litter of pups by the fall 2024.
We very recently have added two Dexter cows that will eventually provide grass-fed beef and raw milk that we will turn into cream, butter, and cheese.
Our passion for animals and dedication to organic practices is what drives us to offer the best products for our family and services to our community. We still have lots more dreams that we hope will continue to come to fruition with God's help!
Welcome to Tonbetter Farms! .

Meet the Family
Self-Sustaining Farmers, Dog Breeders, and Small Business Owners

Rebecca Betterton
Teacher, House Manager, & Dog Breeder
Her first job is homeschooling the boys, but then she manages the house, makes sure the chores are handled, and the animals are taken care of and well loved. Before buying our first Havanese puppy, she learned and observed from friends all about the puppy business for nearly two years. She grew to love this breed and is thankful for the mentoring and guidance that lead our family to where we are today.

Phillip Betterton
Mastermind, Farm Manager, & Owner
His dreams of providing for our family, living on a self-sustaining farm, and learning the process of regenerative farming has morphed into a wonderful way of life that we wouldn't trade for anything. His dreams keep getting bigger, and he keeps us running like a well oiled machine. He does this all while still working a full time job.

Betterton Boys
Farm Hands and Puppy Holders
These three boys are classical learners, well fed teens and a preteen, and servants at heart. They are always willing to feed chickens, fix a fence, feed a cow, hold a puppy, clean up after the puppies, and will regularly give our dogs and pups a bath. When they aren't learning or working, you'll find them doing regular boy things like hanging with friends, playing video games, or driving each other batty.

"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."
